How to encode and upload a live video streaming signal?

Modified on Thu, 3 Aug, 2023 at 5:19 PM

Summary: In order to distribute a live event, VancastVideo requires you to upstream a live RTMP encoded signal, which would include both video and audio.

You've already set up an event and want to start encoding your video and streaming it towards your audience:

Follow these steps:

1. Check the Distribution Settings

To make sure your transcoding settings are correct

2. Launch the Streaming Engines

From the left-side menu of the Event Management page click on Sessions and then click on the Session box you want to run live to unfold the Streaming Engines management area.

It will unfold like this.

Select the Region you want to deploy the engines in (The closest area to your encoding location)

and finally click on Launch Now

After 2-3 minutes you will get a confirmation that the Streaming engines are set up and ready to receive your encoding signal. You will see an RTMP/password pair for each language of your event.

3. Start Streaming from your encoding app.

Copy and paste the RTMP URL and the password, using theicons, into your encoding app and start streaming.

As soon as you start streaming from your app the red indicator will turn green and the Terminate Streaming Engines button will be disabled.

4. Test your Stream

Now, you can Test your Stream using an end-user Access Link

Important:
Make sure you've set the right Distribution Settings, before launching the Streaming Engines and start publishing your encoded signal towards them
