How to make a Transcoding profile default?

Modified on Tue, 11 Jul, 2023 at 12:41 PM

Summary: The Low Motion HD trancoding profile is the default one in all new workspaces. If you prefer to have another default, so that you don't have to change it all the time, you can set up a default distribution profile which includes a transcoding profile.

The Transcoding profile of an event is used every time you launch new Streaming engines for a live event. You can change the default Transcoding profile for one event in Event management > Distribution Settings > Stream Quality. Check out the VancastVideo Standart Transcoding profiles

Streaming engines are dedicated virtual instances launched and configured according to your Transcoding profile. Any changes you make to the Transcoding Profiles or default Distribution Settings will not apply until yo stop the running streamings engines and launch new ones.

To make a Transcoding profile default, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Settings menu as indicated below.
  2. Make sure there is no other distribution profile already set up. In that case, clickto add a new profile.
  3. Give a Name and a Description to the New Profile and on the section Stream quality select the Transcoding profile you want to set as default.
  4. Don't forget to click Save at the bottom of the page.

Having only one Distribution profile makes it the default one. Now every time you create an Event within this Workspace, this profile will be automatically selected.

In case that, for any reason, you have more than one distribution profile configured, every time you create a new Event you will be asked to choose which one you want for that Event
